Underworld series to continue without Kate?
With the introduction of Selene (Kate Beckinsale) and Michael Corvin’s (Scott Speedman) hybrid daughter, Eve (India Eisley), in the 2012 Underworld: Awakening, Screen Gems passed the torch to another star in hopes of continuing the franchise.
After a decade-long battle between vampires and werewolves, like it or not, the Underworld franchise is legit. After four successful films, I’m told by my studio Intel that Screen Gems is actively developing the fifth, currently titled Underworld: Next Generation.
While the title could change by the time they go into production, right now they’re seeking a writer and director for the fifth film, although Len Wiseman remains producer. It’s also unclear what direction they will be going as Beckeisale is not attached yet, officially. Hence the title, Next Generation, it’s implied that the new film will follow Eve as the film’s protagonist.
Again, since a director and writer have yet to be assigned, things could change. But in the early stages of development, this is where the studio hopes to take the franchise come 2015.
Kate attended the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum Presents 2014 Los Angeles Dinner “What You Do Matters” yesterday (she looked stunning!) and I have now uploaded a couple of images of the event here. The dinner honored Sir Ben Kingsley with it’s National Leadership Award for his contributions to keeping Holocaust memory alive and advancing the Museum’s mission.
Kate Beckinsale has boarded the Terry Jones-directed comedy Absolutely Anything which is prepping for a March 24 shoot start in London. She’ll star opposite Simon Pegg and joins a cast that includes Robin Williams, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Eddie Izzard, Joanna Lumley, and the Monty Python gang. Pegg plays a disillusioned school teacher who suddenly finds he has the ability to do anything he wishes, a challenge bestowed upon him by a group of power-crazed aliens watching from space. The aliens are voiced by Jones and his Python co-horts John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle and Michael Palin. Struggling with the new-found powers, he calls upon his loyal canine companion Dennis (voiced by Williams) to help him along the way. Mishap after mishap finally leads him to an ultimate conundrum: Should he choose the girl (Beckinsale) or the dog?

The actress stunned in a sleeveless, gunmetal metallic gown by Zuhair Murad, which she paired with Chopard jewels. Celebrity hairstylist Sascha Breuer, who created Beckinsale’s edgy hair look Sunday evening, used Moroccanoil to give the star a “punk-inspired diva look.”
