Bethpage OB/GYN Menopause Management Service

When a woman is in the right state of health and mind, she’s ageless. We want you to be in that state of mind.

We know that menopause causes varying degrees of emotional, physiological and psychological changes. And, we’d like to help. Our menopause management program helps women learn and cope with the changes they are experiencing. We offer seminars (see below) and lectures for patients to help them understand what they are going through.

Our physicians and nurse practitioners are experienced and well qualified in discussing Hormone Replacement Therapy use with you.

One frequent concern among women is the possibility of osteoporosis (silent loss of bone tissue). Our exciting new bone densitometry unit is equipped with the state-of-the-art Hologic Delphy DEXA machine. We measure bone density of the spine and hip bone (femoral bone) so that preventive or treatment programs can begin if needed.

Another problem common in menopausal women is difficulty with bladder control. We are equipped to test and treat this annoying problem. A test called Urodynamic Testing (UDT) measures bladder pressure against volume. This test is important before any treatment for urinary stress or urgency incontinence is offered. We recently acquired the “Magnetic Chair”, a modern, noninvasive method to regain bladder control. Ask your clinician about it.

The psychological and nutritional aspects of menopause are handled by Dr. Nitza Weiss, a founding member of the North American Menopause Society (NAMS). As a nurse and state licensed psychologist, Dr. Nitza Weiss concentrates on life issues of menopausal women.

Menopause Seminars

Every few months we conduct a seminar in which we discuss the latest developments in menopause management. Drs. Robert and Nitza Weiss are founding members of NAMS. Together with invited faculty, they bring you up to date on new drugs and methods of evaluating menopause related changes in a woman’s body. For information about the next seminar, ask the receptionist or call 731-5100.

All forms of conventional and alternative therapy is discussed in detail and, after careful consideration of risks and benefits, you can reach the best decision that fits your individual needs.
