When a celebrity does that, they set the right example for their followers and fans, guiding them towards a healthy living. Beyonce, a 33-years-old pop singer, reduced 60 pounds with a perfectly planned diet and amazed her fans with her new look.
“I didn’t have a lot of time to lose the weight because I scheduled a show three months after I gave birth, which I would never do again,” Beyonce quoted this in a video for Shape Magazine. In January 2012, Beyonce gave birth to a baby girl, named Blue Ivy. Her pregnancy made her gain around 65 pounds. Beyonce agrees that she has always been watchful about her weight. Her body is not always a fit-friendly one because if she gives up on any of her tiring routine, weight gain will be evident. Regular fitness workout and practice sessions which involve dancing and running, kept her really fit. Beyonce is also known for her longer concerts and elaborate performances on stage.

The real challenge about Beyonce’s post-delivery weight gain peeped in when she scheduled her first on-stage live performance just three months after Blue Ivy’s birth. As the concert dates came closer, she hardly had one month to get back into shape.
How did she achieve it?
For a high energy on-stage performance and for a concert that involves lots of dancing, Beyonce had to be fit as a fiddle. She made it all possible within a few weeks with a magical diet, called as the vegan diet. While breastfeeding her newborn helped her shed more calories than expected, the vegan diet with fresh vegetables gave her the energy to practice well.
The Vegan Diet
The vegan diet which Beyonce followed to lose weight consisted fresh fruits, vegetables and some protein-rich food. Her meal plan was perfectly designed to fit her health and her singing career.
Marco Borges, her trainer, helped her reduce weight in a healthy way with a perfect plant-based diet plan designed for 22 days. This 22-days diet plan served all essential nutrients Beyonce needed to lose weight and stay energetic at the same time. The diet consisted of vegan food, gluten-free energy bars and protein powders. Her husband Jay Z also joined this challenge of going vegan.
Here is the detailed diet chart that Beyonce followed earnestly:
- Breakfast – Her breakfast consisted of egg whites.
- Lunch – Protein shake for a day and fresh sliced turkey with capers on alternative days were a must in her lunch.
- Snack – She used to snack on cucumbers with vinegar or edamame, a green apple or berries, lemon and cayenne pepper.
- Dinner – Yellowtail sashimi with wasabi and jalapenos constituted her dinner.
The vegan diet plan showed positive results on Beyonce’s health. This diet not only keeps a person active, but also keeps their heart healthy. This diet gave her all the energy she needed to nurse the baby, practice tirelessly and it kept a control over her well being too.
Her diet plan also consisted of drinking plenty of water. Beyonce focused on toning her body instead of just losing weight.
“But I feel my body bouncing back. Whatever was tight and muscular, like my legs, I’m seeing it come back. You just have to work at it,” she told People magazine.
Any weight loss regimen is not complete without a perfect diet plan and a workout to support it. Beyonce also believed in combining a perfect workout session with her vegan diet to make it more functional. It is a rumor that she employed a personal trainer who stayed with her to help reduce her baby-weight. Her initial workout sessions would extend for about 90 minutes, three times a week. This workout was exclusive and involved a lot of walking, which was much different from her regular singing and dancing practice (that involves a lot of stretching).

Beyonce found her motivation in every small thing- whether it is a picture of the dress she wants to fit into or an Oscar by her treadmill. Music also served as a great source of workout motivation to her. “I’ll put on a song that I really like and do [biceps curls with] five-pound weights [for] the whole song and just try to burn out,” she told Self.

She recommends all new mothers to breastfeed their babies. It will not only do good for the infant, but also help the new mommies to lose post-delivery weight faster. She also advises all the weight loss seekers to embrace their natural body shapes.
“Everyone is not supposed to be the same. Be healthy and take care of yourself, but be happy with the beautiful things that make you, you,” she said in a video for Shape.
