Can’t access your Gmail? Recover your information!
Sometimes it can be frustrating that we forget our information. Luckily most email services gives us the option to recover our data. In future logins, if on a private computer in a safe area, you can check the box that says Stay signed in and then hopefully you will not have to worry about this again. If it is not a private computer then this isn’t a good option.
To recover your password go to mail.google.com. You will see Can’t access your account? under the login fields. Click this link and it’ll bring you to a series of steps.
There are three options it will give you: I don’t know my password, I don’t know my username, and I am having other problems signing in. If you tried signing in many times and couldn’t figure out what piece of information is wrong, then press username first. By getting your username, you can then go through the process again to obtain the password. After doing this you will have both parts of information. The only thing is to choose I don’t know my username, you will need to know an email address associated with the account. If you don’t know one or didn’t set it up, then this option wont work.
Checked I don’t know my password? It will now give you a box to type in your email address. If you know your username then that is the same as your email address. If you do not know your username, then you will have to rely on another email that you used to associate with this account. You may remember putting one in when you wanted to signup. Or maybe you altered your password recovery options after using the account. If you cannot remember any email address or if the one you typed in is wrong then you will have to choose another option.
If you were able to put in the information needed then it’ll show you the options to verify password. One is through a phone number that you may have associated with the account. Another is an email address associated with the account. With the phone number you can choose for Google to call you with a code or text you. With the email, Gmail will send you an email with a link to reset your password.
Checked I don’t know my username? You should come to a page where it asks for an email address associated with the account. We already discussed what this entails. Then you have to type in the captcha words and then press submit.
If you were able to put in the information needed then it’ll send an email to the email associated with the account.
Checked I’m having other problems signing in? Well this asks the same thing pretty much as the others. It either needs your Gmail address or another email address associated with the account.
If you were able to put in the information needed then it’ll take you to another page with more options to choose from.
